The OPDL Charity Shield wrapped up over the weekend and four teams walked away with the honours.

However, the day was more than about who won the Charity Shield but it was an opportunity to raise money for Ontario charities and for OPDL athletes to give back to their communities.

Those who won the Charity Shield got to choose how the money raised will be distributed. On the day, over $2,900 was collected and that money will be given evenly to Sick Kids Hospital (Vaughan U-14 and U-15 Boys), Breast Cancer Foundation (Ottawa South United U-14 Girls) and Holland Bloorview Concussion Centre (Markham SC U-15 Girls).

The OPDL athletes took a few minutes before their games to speak to OSA TV about what it means to play in the Charity Shield. why they chose the charities they did and why it's important to give back.
