Please be advised the Canadian Soccer Association has changed their rule regarding the definition of a minor player.
Previously a minor player was defined as the ages of 12 – 17.
It is now defined as the ages of 10 - 17.
This change is due to the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (article 19, paragraph 4) which became effective as of March 1, 2015.
The Canadian Soccer Association’s Rule 6.5 a) now reads as follows:
6.5 Amateur Players – Transfer - General
a) For a player who comes to Canada on or after the player is 10 years of age, the player must request and receive an international clearance from the CSA.
Please be advised that the Ontario Soccer Association’s procedures will follow that of the Canadian Soccer Association and FIFA, effective immediately. Minor players between the ages of 10 and 17 will need to follow the OSA’s application for international transfer certificates as laid out in the operational procedures and on the OSA website.
All applicable documents will be updated to reflect this change.
