ANB Futbol Eliminate Defending Champions From L1 Cup

The last week of League1 Ontario was full of heartbreak as the men's teams played off in the L1 Cup quarter finals.  The winners of these matches will move on to the semi-final round, the losers are out.

Here are the results.

Men’s

The 2014 L1 Cup defending champions, Vaughan Azzurri, has been eliminated from the 2015 L1 Cup as they lost 3-1 to ANB Futbol in a combative match, which included an own goal and a 75th minute dismissal for the Vaughan side.  Click here to read more.

Despite well organized defensive play by both sides, Woodbridge Strikers beat visitors, Windsor Stars, with a narrow 2-1 victory to earn a spot in the semi-final round.  

Having concluded regulation time with a 1-1 tie, the penalties yielded a heartbreaking 5-4 result for the Pro Stars as they lost to Durham United, who will now progress into the semi-final.  

Sigma F.C. comfortably moves into the semi-final round of the 2015 L1 Cup as they won 6-2 against the Kingston Clippers. 

Women’s

With a 3-1 result, an exceptionally organized ANB Futbol safely defeated Sanjaxx Lions in a late group stage match.
