The Ontario Soccer Association Match Official Department would like to extend congratulations to Pierre Acouri and Sean Hornsby of EODSA.

Both were nominated as candidates for the 2016 Canada Soccer National List of Match Officials – Pierre as a match official and Sean as an Assistant Referee – and recently they were both announced as successful candidates for 2016.

Being from the EODSA meant they had to go the extra mile as they travelled extensively across the province in order to receive senior level appointments and to be seen by other national and provincial assessors.

To get to this stage both had to pass a fitness test at the National level, be shortlisted for review by the Canada Soccer Referee Committee, selected to attend the U-18 Championships and then have all their assessments reviewed by the Candaa Soccer Referee Committee as the final selection step. They have to meet the fitness and education requirements in January and February 2016 as a part of completing the process.

They have committed years to development, have been part of the Advanced Referee Training Program and are continually working on improving every aspect of their game. One of the strongest traits they both have is the ability to give back to their local officiating community and to step up whenever called upon for an extra mentor or leader for a program.

Congratulations to both.
