The OSA's Match Officials Department hosted their second annual Elite Match Official Training Camp at the CORE Lifestyle & Recreation Complex in Kitchener this past weekend.
The camp was hosted in partnership with OUA, OCAA and League1 Ontario and was attended by over 60 aspiring and committed match officials from Regional to National level.
The two-day event included both in-class and practical sessions and offered advanced education to the officials that are in the pool for OUA, OCAA, and League1 Ontario appointments.
Instructors for the camp included FIFA Futuro, National and Provincial Instructors.
Administrators and Coaches from all three leagues made presentations with the goal of creating a stronger working partnerships between Match Officials and the leagues.
"This is an important event where the leagues and the department are working together to create a stronger partnership and improve relationships with league administrators, coaches and leaders. We have seen great improvements over the past 2 seasons, and the opportunity for open communication at this camp has clearly helped with that advancement," said Nicky Pearson, OSA Manager of Match Official Development. "To see the huge improvements in the fitness and knowledge of the match officials, shows us that we are on the right path. My thanks go out to all that assisted in the creation and delivery of this camp."
The 2017 Elite Match Official Training Camp is set for April 1-2, 2017 to take place again at CORE Lifestyle & Recreation Complex.
