With a combined legacy of over 85 years providing recreational and competitive soccer programs to the region of Hamilton & Stoney Creek, the Saltfleet Soccer Club and Stoney Creek Soccer Club are pleased to announce the approval from the Hamilton and District Soccer Association Executive Board for the amalgamation of the two clubs to form the Saltfleet Stoney Creek Soccer Club (SSC), operating as SSC effective November 1, 2015.

With a diminishing volunteer base, the increased costs to deliver programs, the need to continually improve services and the opportunity to bring together two community clubs to address the needs of upper and lower Stoney Creek; the amalgamation was a natural step in the improvement and evolution of soccer in our community.
In a joint statement from the President's of the two soccer clubs; Sam Di Santo (Saltfleet) and Joe Cannella (Stoney Creek), they announced today that "through the amalgamation of our clubs, we recognize that together we can provide better and more targeted programming, streamline our operational synergies and most of all - advance the enjoyment and development opportunities for our members, coaches and volunteers. We know with change come challenges, however; our goal is to provide the best soccer programs and development path for our members through best practices in how we deliver our services and support the communities we serve."

The SSC plans to raise the bar by focusing on the key areas below for the members of the soccer communities they serve:

  • Creation of a new organizational framework for business operations – administration, program development, coaching development;
  • Long Term Player Development (LTPD) executed through a player centric model;
  • Coaching Development through proper training and technical support;
  • Leadership in developing structure and policies to maintain OSA Gold Status for Club Excellence and best practices;
  • Collaboration and efficiencies in operational facility/field management;
  • Ongoing commitment to community engagement with sponsors, government agencies, and support of local businesses and charitable organizations.
