The Canadian Soccer Association recently conducted an extensive review of the National Club Championships. This review has involved consultations with all areas of membership, including provincial/territorial technical directors and feedback from Provincial/Territorial Associations. An audit was also conducted by an external consultant who sought feedback from all levels from the national level right down to the Club level.

One of the recommendations that have come out of this review is the need to change the age divisions to better align with Long Term Player Development philosophies and better reflect the Train to Compete stage, along with playing structures within the various Provincial Associations.

In 2016, the age divisions for the National Club Championships will remain the same at Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, and Senior Men and Women.

In 2017, the age divisions for the National Club Championships will be Under 15, Under 17 and Senior Men and Women.

The qualification process for the National Championships will not change. The Ontario Cup Champions in the Under 15 and Under 17 divisions in 2017 will advance to the National Championships.
