The Ontario Soccer Association is proud to announce that Lorraine Lafrenière, the Chief Executive Officer of the Coaching Association of Canada, will be a keynote speaker at the Ontario Soccer Summit 2017.
Lafrenière was named as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Women in 2014 and 2015 by the Canadian Association for Advancement of Women and Sport.
Her career spans more than 25 years, across many sectors, within the Canadian sport system including roles with the Canadian Olympic Committee, National Sport Organizations, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, as well as Petro-Canada, one of Canada's leading Olympic and Paralympic Games sponsors.
“Canada's best coaches constantly seek opportunities to grow, it's just part of their DNA. They have a strong sense of self-reflection and access to events like the Ontario Soccer Summit allows them to develop and evaluate their current competencies,” Lafrenière said.
Prior joining the Coaching Association of Canada in November of 2013, Lorraine held the CEO position with Canoe Kayak Canada, one of two sports in Canada to produce three Olympic medals in London 2012.
She was also CEO with Cycling Canada from 2006-2008, where she contributed to re-establishing the organization's financial stability and its high performance and development structure in order to improve Canada's performances on the international stage.
“The Ontario Soccer Summit is about taking advantage of the thoughtful presentations and workshops, while intentionally engaging with the other leaders in attendance to build a collective network to improve sport in Canada,” Lafrenière said.
Lafrenière joins Jason deVos, the Canada Soccer Director of Development, as one of three Ontario Soccer Summit 2017 keynote speakers.
The third keynote speaker will be announced on December 20, 2017, followed by the complete roster of Ontario Soccer Summit speakers and subject matter experts in the New Year.
The host venue for the Ontario Soccer Summit 2017 is the Oshawa Civic Recreation Complex and Trent University and event runs March 3-5, 2017.
