Black History Month provides an opportunity to celebrate the Black individuals whose contributions have helped shape the game of soccer in Ontario and across Canada. From players and coaches to match officials, volunteers, and leaders, Black excellence has long influenced how the game is played, supported, and experienced at every level.
These contributions extend far beyond the field. Through leadership, commitment, and community impact, Black participants have strengthened the sport and expanded pathways for future generations. Their influence is reflected in clubs, programs, and communities across the province.
As Ontario Soccer marks 125 years of the game, this collective story brings focus to individuals whose dedication and leadership continue to propel the sport forward — past, present, and future.
Check back here throughout Black History Month as we continue to share new stories celebrating Black excellence in soccer in Ontario.
