The match opened at a high tempo, with FC Toronto Red pushing forward aggressively right from kickoff. FC Toronto Red led the early run of chances, though none initially tested York Jets Atletico goalkeeper Jarius Rabano, who remained composed as his defence absorbed the pressure.
In the 8 minute, FC Toronto Red conceded a free kick in a dangerous area, but York Jets Atletico were unable to capitalize. A minute later, Tomek Dyczkowski attempted a long‑range effort for FC Toronto Red, but the shot travelled wide.
The breakthrough arrived in the 11 minute. Mark Panakal received the ball at the top right of the crease and struck a powerful, precise finish that left Rabano with no chance, opening the scoring for FC Toronto Red.
