Updated Adapted Match Formats Laws of the Game Document – 9v9 Revision

Ontario Soccer has made revisions to the 9v9 section of the Adapted Match Formats Laws of the Game document recently shared in Bulletin I2025-52 on October 7, 2025.

This update simplifies and clarifies the existing content to better align with the previous Differences Between 9v9 and 11v11 Games document, while ensuring continued alignment with the mandated Canada Soccer Grassroots Standards.

The Penalty Area & Penalty Arc

 

Updated penalty mark and arc to match the size of the 9v9 field

 

Law 8: The Start and Restart of Play

 

Referral to the IFAB Laws of the Games.

 

Law 9: The Ball In and Out of Play

 

Referral to the IFAB Laws of the Games.

 

Law 10: Determining the Outcome of a Match

 

Referral to the IFAB Laws of the Games.
Law 11: Offside

 

Referral to the IFAB Laws of the Games.

 

Law 12: Fouls & Misconduct

 

Removal of listed offences and referral to the IFAB Laws of the Games and Disciplinary Action for Youth Competitions.

 

Law 13: Free Kicks

 

Referral to the IFAB Laws of the Games.

 

 

Law 14: The Penalty Kick

 

Referral to the IFAB Laws of the Games.
Law 17: The Corner Kick

 

Referral to the IFAB Laws of the Games.
