Liverpool IA Mississauga with a impressive performance over Markham SC to secure victory

In a thrilling showdown at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Liverpool FC IA Mississauga emerged victorious defeating Markham SC 4-0 to claim the Girls U14 Gary Miller Charity Shield, the first victory on day two of the Gary Miller Charity Shield.

LFC IA Mississauga started off at a blistering pace, moving the ball quickly through the middle in the opening two minutes as they looked to unleash their forwards. However, the Markham goalkeeper Mia Morella stood tall, making several decisive plays off her line to cut out potential threats.

Both teams created only half chances through the opening 10 minutes, with a tight midfield battle developing as each side looked to capitalize on the counterattack, waiting for the other to make a mistake.

The best opportunity of the opening 15 minutes, when a misplayed ball back to Morella was nearly intercepted by LFC IA Mississauga's Alia Reyes, who pounced on the loose touch and almost gave Liverpool the early lead.

In the 20 minute, just as the quarter was coming to an end, Hanna Varga showcased excellent control before striking a left-footed volley from outside the penalty area that ricocheted off the post and in, giving her side the lead.

In the second quarter, with five minutes remaining before halftime, Victoria Gardens, coming off the bench for  LFC IA Mississauga, produced a clever finish to double her team’s lead. The goal felt well-deserved after the relentless pressure LFC IA Mississauga had been placing on the Markham back line.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Markham’s No. 30 Harlow Stockwell found space inside the box, but her shot was denied by a strong save from LFC IA Mississauga's goalkeeper Maliah McAneney.

Markham continued to push forward aggressively in the final quarter, pressing high and looking for any opportunity to break through LFC IA Mississauga's defensive line. However, LFC IA Mississauga stayed composed and extended their lead to three when Alia Reyes found the back of the net, sealing the game and essentially confirming their victory. Gabriella Ventura added a fourth one late in the 72 minute, to seal the victory for LFC IA Mississauga.

Despite Markham’s late efforts, it wasn’t enough to change the outcome, as LFC IA Mississauga held firm to claim the U14 Girls Gary Miller Charity Shield, capping off a disciplined and well-earned victory.
