On Sunday August 10 at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ontario, Woodbridge SC were crowned the 2025 OPDL Cup Champions in the U16 Boys division after a tightly contested 3–2 victory over Vaughan SC.

The match kicked off with both teams showing early intensity, trading possession and chances in the opening 10 minutes. Woodbridge’s Christian Gallo had the first real opportunity, but his chip was easily handled by Vaughan keeper Avery Steed. Vaughan responded quickly with a build-up play led by Jonathan Vasquez, ending in a shot from Antonio Ferrin that sailed over the bar.

Woodbridge continued to press, earning a free kick in the 15 minute that Emerson Papandrea struck on target, only to be denied by Steed. Luka Gudelj followed up with another shot from distance in the 20 minute, but Steed remained solid.

Vaughan broke the deadlock in the 54 minute after a period of sustained possession. Michael Arangio found space and placed a shot into the bottom left corner, giving Vaughan a 1–0 lead.

Woodbridge responded in the second half with a surge of momentum. In the 62 minute, Deshauni Gayle delivered a perfectly timed pass to Matteo Pellicciota, who beat the keeper to level the score. Just one minute later, Pellicciota struck again, finishing off a cross from Matteo Cardenas to give Woodbridge a 2–1 lead.

Vaughan answered quickly in the 72 minute when Sebastian Torres fired a shot into the top corner to tie the match at 2–2. But Woodbridge had the final say — in the 77 minute, Gayle pressed the Vaughan defense, forced a turnover, and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper to secure the win.

Despite a late push from Vaughan, including a strong effort from Joel Soza, Woodbridge held firm to claim the championship.
