Ontario Soccer is excited to unveil the Men’s squad that will represent Team Ontario at the upcoming 2025 Canada Summer Games, taking place in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, from August 8 to 25. The Women’s squad will be released next week.

Led by Head Coach Bryan Rosenfeld, Assistant Coach, Dave Benning and Team Manager, Jon Mondino, Team Ontario will test their skills against some of the best youth players in the country in this highly competitive development opportunity that pits them against teams from around Canada.

The Canada Games build on an incredible 2025 Provincial Xcel Program following a highly successful showcase series in May against the Quebec Soccer Federation in the annual Ontario-Quebec Series. In 12 matches across four divisions, Team Ontario racked up eight wins, one loss and three draws.

The players are selected through Ontario’s Provincial Xcel program, which identifies players primarily through standards-based environments such as the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) and  League1 Ontario (L1ON) as well as Talent on Location Day (ToLD) events for those players outside the Talented Player Pathway.

Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel Program is a key component of the Talented Player Pathway and Long-Term Player Development, providing players a bridge to high-performance organizations in Ontario and Canada at the collegiate, national and even professional levels. These programs include post-secondary institutions, Toronto FC Academy, Canada Soccer’s National Development Centre, National Youth Teams and much more.

Featuring 19 sports, hundreds of events and cultural festivals, the 2025 Canada Summer Games will welcome over 3,600 athletes and coaches and more than 5,000 volunteers.

Team Ontario’s 2022 Men’s squad took home Silver medals at the Canada Games which were held in Niagara.

In preparation for the competition, players will participate in a Training Camp at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre between August 3 to 7. Ontario Soccer congratulates the players and team officials that have been selected to Team Ontario and wish them all the best in St. John’s.

Further details regarding team schedules and how to follow Team Ontario's progress at the Canada Summer Games will be shared closer to the event.
