The 2025 Ontario Futsal Cup Women’s Final delivered a dramatic showdown on Sunday afternoon at Mohawk College in Hamilton, as Windsor Caboto secured their second consecutive championship with a thrilling shootout victory over Scarborough GS United Elite after a 3-3 draw in regulation.
Windsor wasted no time getting on the scoresheet, as Nicole Mailloux struck in just the second minute. Scarborough’s goalkeeper, Sarah-Anisha Bradbury, got a hand on the shot, but it still found its way into the net. However, Scarborough answered immediately, with Alessia Da Silva netting a tricky shot straight from the corner.
Scarborough then pulled ahead thanks to Keyla Moreno, who produced a brilliant solo effort, drawing Windsor keeper Breanne Carreiro off her line before finishing into the open goal. Bradbury came up with a crucial save in the 10th minute to preserve the lead for Scarborough.
Windsor found their equalizer in the 17th minute with a well-executed team goal. Maaja Fischer and Marissa Olivera combined beautifully, with Olivera slotting the ball home to level the score at 2-2 heading into halftime.
The second half saw both teams continue their attacking intensity. In the 32nd minute, Moreno struck again for Scarborough, capitalizing on a moment of hesitation from Windsor’s defense after Carreiro had just made a key save. But Windsor responded just two minutes later when Laura Twidle delivered a precise pass to Samantha Murphy, who made no mistake in front of goal to bring the match level once again at 3-3.
Neither team could find a decisive goal in the final moments of regulation, sending the game to a penalty shootout. Windsor Caboto held their nerve, securing the victory and clinching their second consecutive Ontario Futsal Cup title in dramatic fashion.
