The 2025 Ontario Futsal Cup Men’s Final delivered an electrifying showdown on Sunday afternoon at Mohawk College in Hamilton, as 9 de Octubre edged past Toronto Idolo 5-4 in a tightly contested battle.

The action ignited early, with Idolo striking first in just the second minute. Dmytro Medvid delivered a pinpoint cross to Percy Sandoval, who capitalized to give his team the lead. However, 9 de Octubre responded in the ninth minute with an equalizer, as Matthew Rios set up Andy Baquero Ruiz for the finish.

Idolo reclaimed the advantage when Yevhenni Zaiets sent a precise pass in from the corner to Aidan Hugo, who buried it. But once again, 9 de Octubre found a way back, this time through a lightning-fast counterattack. Rios led the charge and slipped a pass through to Joshua Paredes, who raced down the center of the court before calmly slotting the ball home.

The back-and-forth action continued as Idolo struck again from another corner. Zaiets delivered the ball into the box, where Matias Dimarco was perfectly positioned to direct it past the keeper. 9 de Octubre responded with a well-worked team goal as Raheem Rose and Alejandro Portal Oliva combined beautifully, exchanging passes before Portal Oliva found the net.

With the first half winding down, 9 de Octubre grabbed a crucial lead in added time. Rios added his name to the scoresheet with a decisive strike, putting his side up 4-3 at the break after a highly competitive opening period.

Toronto Idolo wasted little time in the second half, leveling the match in the 24th minute when Zaiets unleashed a powerful shot from range to make it 4-4. Both sides continued to push for the go-ahead goal, with 9 de Octubre’s goalkeeper making a crucial save in the 29th minute to keep the game level.

The decisive moment arrived in the 38th minute, as Jesse Oliver fired a tricky shot that deflected off the goalkeeper’s shin and into the net. Paredes was the architect once again, setting up the chance that secured 9 de Octubre’s championship victory.

With the final whistle, 9 de Octubre celebrated a hard-fought 5-4 triumph, capping off an exhilarating match and earning the title of 2025 Ontario Futsal Cup champions.
