Ontario Soccer and Gatorade® were thrilled for the return of the Gatorade 5v5 Tournament in 2024, held at the Pickering Soccer Centre. Winning teams had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit London, England and play in the Global 5v5 Finals, and Ottawa South United brought home the gold in the girls' division!

In celebration of the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL)’s 10th anniversary, we hosted an OPDL10 Celebration at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre to commemorate the season. Fittingly, the first-ever Player Development Program (PDP Championships) were held this summer, where a number of OPDL teams and Match Officials got the chance to showcase their talents.

2024 saw Canada’s national teams competing on the global stage. The Canada Soccer Men's National Team (CANMNT) headed south to play in the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa América, which they ended with an impressive and historic fourth-place finish. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Canada Soccer's Women's National Team (CANWNT) fought hard to defend their gold medal, but were ultimately sent home after falling to Germany in the quarterfinals.
BMO championed soccer development and inclusivity all year long with events like the Julia Grosso clinic, BMO Girls Play ON!, the first-ever BMO Kids Play ON! and our special BMO Kids Play ON! Indigenous Festival in Thunder Bay. They also put on a BMO Women’s Leadership Day in collaboration with Special Olympics Ontario. Learn more about these impactful events on the BMO webpage.
Circle K continued its commitment to grassroots development through a series of high-energy 2v2 Festivals, All-Abilities Festivals, and providing 50 Celebration Festival Grants to deserving grassroots clubs throughout Ontario. Discover more on the Circle K webpage.
The 2024 MilkUP Ontario Cup once again showcased the best of competitive soccer in Ontario. With teams from all corners of the province battling it out in exciting matches, this year’s tournament was one to remember! Relive the action through our YouTube playlist.
This year, as Ontario Soccer entered a new partnership with the Zanchin Autotmotive Group, our provincial facility in Vaughan was bestowed a new title: The Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre.
The venue has since been given numerous updates such as new signage and updated change rooms. More to come in 2025!
Once again, Toronto FC hosted unforgettable OPDL and Match Official Celebration Nights, providing a VIP soccer experience to so many members of the Ontario Soccer community.
Ontario Soccer's efforts to recruit and retain more Match Officials stayed in full swing all year long, with dozens of Match Official development courses being offered throughout 2024. Our Body Cam Pilot Project continued, and as part of our No Ref No Game messaging, we shared spotlight stories on Match Officials throughout the year that were selected for prestigous competitions from Ontario to the global stage. Nineteen exceptional individuals and organizations were honoured at this year’s Centre Circle Awards, including another impressive cohort of MilkUP Future Leaders.
This year’s Annual Meeting of the Members introduced a new chapter in leadership with the appointment of Alan O’Brien as Chair of Ontario Soccer's Board of Directors.
Capping off the year, the Gary Miller Charity Shield delivered top-tier competition while supporting SickKids through its online auction. As always, our YouTube livestreams captured all of the action. Watch them here.
Over the year, three announcements were made in regard to Canada Soccer's Club Licensing Program. Over 30 Ontario Clubs earned the title of Quality Soccer Provider (QSP) throughout the year, while three achieved Member Association Level 1 (MA1) status.
