Canada Soccer has announced the community clubs for phase one of the Soccer in Schools program heading into schools across Saskatchewan, Ontario and British Columbia in Fall 2024. Community clubs will be working alongside Canada Soccer to engage and support their selected schools with nationally developed educator training, age-appropriate video-based curriculum and a student activity booklet. For their participation, schools will receive a legacy banner, equipment package and a Soccer in Schools digital app to utilize the video-based curriculum for years to come.
We are thrilled to see the enthusiastic participation of community clubs across British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan in the first phase of our Soccer in Schools program," said Sara McConaghy, Director, Community and Fund Development, Canada Soccer. "This initiative is designed to bring the joy and benefits of organized soccer directly into schools in partnership with local soccer clubs, providing students with valuable physical, mental, and social skills

The launch of the Soccer in Schools program is important because it addresses critical needs and opportunities within the school environment, driving meaningful education to those delivering soccer in schools.
Physically, soccer provides an excellent cardiovascular workout, improving endurance, strength, and coordination. Mentally, soccer helps develop essential life skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership, as students learn to work together towards a common goal. Socially, playing soccer helps build friendships and a sense of community, providing a supportive environment where students can thrive.
Canada Soccer will look to expand the Soccer in Schools Program to other Provinces in the coming years. For more information on Soccer in Schools, please visit canadasoccer.com/soccerinschools.
