Play. Inspire. Unite.

In a momentous occasion celebrated at the recent National Referee Camp in Ottawa, two outstanding individuals in the Ontario Soccer community received the official designation of National Assistant Referees.

Twayne Anderson, representing North York Soccer Association, and Brad Doubrough, from Huronia District Soccer Association, have earned this distinguished title, marking a significant milestone in their careers as Match Officials. Ontario Soccer extends heartfelt congratulations to Twayne and Brad, wishing them the very best as they embark on this exciting new chapter.

Additionally, Ontario Soccer proudly extends its congratulations to John Oliva, representing Elgin Middlesex Soccer Association, for his well-deserved promotion to National Assessor.

The induction of Doubrough and Anderson onto the National List and Oliva’s ascension to National Assessor is a testament to these individuals’ exemplary skill and dedication to the sport of soccer. Their achievements should serve as an inspiration to referees across the province.

“Congratulations to both Brad and Twayne on taking the next steps in their career," said David Barrie, Ontario Soccer's Manager of Match Official Development. "To be selected to the National List demonstrates the hard work they have put in. Both have shown a desire to improve and Ontario Soccer is proud of their selection."

It is also fantastic to see former National Referee John Oliva return to the Canada Soccer program as an assessor. John will bring valuable experience to the next generation of match officials in Ontario and Canada.

Match Officials on Canada Soccer's National List of Referees are eligible for nomination to the FIFA List and to Canada Soccer National Competitions.  The list also includes a NEXTGEN List of Member Association Referees for appointment to domestic competition.

During an intensive weekend camp in Ottawa spanning from March 15 to 17, Anderson and Doubrough were joined by fellow Match Officials in completing rigorous fitness tests and engaging in valuable education sessions. The yearly National Referee Camp provides a chance to assess the physical fitness of referees with the outdoor season just around the corner.

The weekend also includes a gala banquet where Canada Soccer commemorates milestones and accomplishments from the preceding year.
