Canada Soccer has taken a significant stride towards promoting gender equity within the coaching landscape with the introduction of AccelerateHER - a strategic initiative designed to address the glaring gender disparities in Canada Soccer’s Advanced Coaching sphere. This program will aim to provide comprehensive support to women coaches and align them with the highest coaching standards in the country.
Historically, women have been underrepresented in advanced coaching roles, constituting only 10% of coaches in Canada Soccer’s Advanced Coach Education Program, according to the organization. Obstacles such as limited opportunities, financial barriers, and inadequate support for aspiring female coaches can get in the way of women pursuing this field of work.
To help combat this issue, the AccelerateHER program will train 85 coaches seeking their Coaching Diplomas at either the A, B, C Children’s, and Goalkeeper levels. The deadline to apply is April 21, 2024.

Ontario Soccer proudly supports the AccelerateHer initiative as it recognizes the crucial role of women as role models. This is a prime example of a coaching program that encourages girls and women to participate and stay involved in soccer - an outcome we strive for each and every day.
