Launched in 2014 with the 2001 age group, the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) is Ontario’s first and Canada’s foremost standards-based, youth high performance program that combines top level competition with comprehensive high performance training standards. Covering the U13 to U17 age categories, the OPDL, with 28 Licence Holders and 2 partners, is critical to enhancing development for Players, Coaches and Match Officials across the province.

The Gary Miller Charity Shield is the culminating event for the OPDL season each year, which also raises money for Ontario charities alongside the crowning of champions. Last year, over fourteen thousand dollars was donated to charities as selected by the winning teams.
