Canadian Special Olympics Women’s Soccer Team Take Bronze at World Games in Berlin

Congratulations to the Canadian Special Olympics Women’s Soccer Team for winning bronze at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin this past week.

Team Canada clinched the medal with an exciting 2-1 win over Special Olympics Bharat, brining home the first medal for Canada’s team sports in the tournament. Ontario sent two players to the games: Kristy Alford from Innisfill and Candace Bushie from Peterborough. These two have both been involved in Special Olympics for seven years!

The Special Olympics World Games are the world's largest inclusive sporting event that supports people with intellectual disabilities through sport, health, education and skills development programs. Ontario Soccer proudly supports the Special Olympics, fostering inclusion and inclusivity as an organizational core value, striving to make soccer more accessible for all Ontarians.
