The Provincial program provides an opportunity for Ontario Soccer registered players, who are competing at the U14, U15, U16 and U17 age groups, to be scouted by advanced soccer programs. The program focuses on player screening, talent identification and benchmarking.

The Talented Pathway, specifically the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL), is the primary avenue in which potential Provincial Team Players are detected. There is however an alternative player detection option for those Ontario Soccer registered players who do not compete within the Talented Pathway (OPDL & League1 Ontario) which is called Talent on Location Days (ToLD).

Over the last two weekends, Provincial Xcel teams took on various teams, from other environments, in a showcase series. The Boys U14 and U16 teams took on Toronto FC Academy on April 22 and 23 at BMO Training Ground.

The Girls U14 team played an all-star team with the best players in the province, while the Girls U16 team played against the Girls National Development Centre NextGen team at the Ontario Soccer Centre on April 29 and 30.
