North Mississauga SC outlast Pickering FC in intriguing four game series

Play. Inspire. Unite.

Over the weekend, blind soccer was featured at the 2023 Ontario Parasport Games which took place at the Oshawa Civic Field House in Oshawa.

Blind soccer is currently the only Paralympic version of the sport and this event served as another step in the development to a national program in Canada. For the second year in a row teams from Pickering FC faced off against North Mississauga SC in a four game series.

Game 1: Pickering FC 0 – 0 North Mississauga

Game 2: Pickering FC 0 – 1 North Mississauga

Game 3: Pickering FC 0 – 3 North Mississauga

Game 4: Pickering FC 1 – 4 North Mississauga

It was a tough-fought battle between the two teams, and while Pickering FC showed great improvements from 2022, it was the North Mississauga defence that proved the difference, only allowing one goal, while their offence gained steam as the series progressed scoring more goals each game. Top scorer Fatlum Elshani lit up the field again and showed why blind soccer is one of the most popular sports at each Paralympic Games.

The Ontario Parasport Games are held every two years and provide a great opportunity for people to get involved and to learn more about the sport in a fun and relaxed environment. Ontario Soccer proudly supports the Ontario Parasport Games, fostering inclusion and inclusivity as an organizational core value, striving to make soccer more accessible for all Ontarians.
