In the second game of the 2023 Ontario Indoor Cup Finals, it was Guelph Gryphons Red against Mississauga Dixie in the Girls U14 Finals.

The game got off to a fast start when Guelph’s Gianna De Maria fired a long-range shot that was saved by Mississauga Keeper Isabella Lima, within a few seconds after kickoff. De Maria fired another long-range shot a few moments later in the second minute which Lima was up to the test for, once again.

Mississauga’s first chance came in the third minute when Alexis Hypolite delivered a ground cross that just missed her teammate at the far post for a tap-in goal. Hypolite created another chance only moments later, when her shot hit the post and stayed out.

Guelph opened the scoring in the tenth minute, when Rachael Van Milligan picked the ball up just outside the Mississauga box, turned, dribbled around her defender and fired a laser past Lima.

The game would remain 1-0 into the second half but, Guelph doubled their lead a minute into the second, when Rylie Anselmini slotted home a break away finish after a turnover in midfield.

Despite being down 2-0, Mississauga continued to battle and in the 30th minute, Kelsey Russell and Sarah Raybould combined on a two-on-two to put Mississauga on the board bringing the score to 2-1.

Following the goal, Guelph once again dialed up the pressure and ultimately overwhelmed Mississauga. Guelph would add two additional goals, and nearly added a fifth if not for a missed penalty, on their way to a 4-1 victory.
