Ontario Soccer has teamed up with its friends from Sport Chek and Respect Group to continue their work in making soccer a safe space for all.
Earlier this summer, the partners hosted a Community Chek-In Soccer Boot Camp for a diverse group of soccer players from across various regions of the province at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan. Together, the partners emphasized the importance of Respect as the foundation to help make soccer better and safer for all participants.
Building on the momentum of its Match Official Anti-Bullying campaign #NoRefNoGame that was launched at the beginning of the 2022 Outdoor Season, this Community Chek-In also served to remind participant to “stop the cycle and change the culture” around Match Official abuse.
Sport Chek and Ontario Soccer facilitated the on-field program and Respect Group led a session on the importance of Respect in Sport for both players and parents. From footage gathered throughout that day, a compelling video on the importance of Respect was created, which we strongly suggest you review and share widely across your network with the request to amplify this critical message:
1) The Respect Video: Watch it here and help spread its important message!
2) Respect in Sport Parent Program – Free Access for Parents mid November
Thanks to the special commitment and generous support from our partners Sport Chek, we are pleased to let our members know that together, we will continue to make the game of soccer better for everyone by covering the cost of Respect in Sport training for Ontario Soccer parents, who register for the course by or before November 15, 2022.
Click this link to access instructions on registering for your free Respect in Sport Course and please share this information widely with your participants, so that they may take advantage of this tremendous, time-limited opportunity.
In concert with our partners we are looking to ensure that Everyone is Welcome, when it comes to soccer in Ontario. Your ongoing leadership and support is paramount, as we all have to stand shoulder-to-shoulder to make soccer better for all.
