Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce the selection of both the Men’s and Women’s teams that will represent Ontario at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara Falls.

The player identification process began in 2020, through the Provincial Projects, prior to the global pandemic as the Canada Summer Games were scheduled for 2021.

In order to effectively deliver the program, during the initial recovery from the effects of the pandemic, Ontario Soccer entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Toronto FC Academy to support the Men’s preparation for the 2021 competition. With the postponement of the Canada Summer Games to 2022, Ontario Soccer continued to honour the original agreement with TFC Academy.

In the lead up to the 2022 Canada Summer Games, for both the Men’s and Women’s teams, over 200 players were observed during the months of February and March through the Provincial Screening Competitions (PSC). In addition to the PSC, players were selected to compete in the Inter-Provincial Competition against Soccer Québec in April to identify players within a higher level of competition. Further assessments, in collaboration with TFC Academy and Ontario’s National Development Centre, took place before making the final selections to represent Team Ontario.
