The Canadian Futsal Championship made its return to play in 2022 with Toronto Idolo Futsal vying to win their third consecutive National Championship.

Unfortunately for Toronto Idolo their bid for three straight National Championship, and four in the last five Futsal Canadian Championships, came up just short in a tightly contested championship match against Sporting Montréal.

The two squads, and perennial favourites, met in the finals after dominating the group stage of the 2022 Futsal Canadian Championships.

Sporting Montréal opened the scoring less than 90 seconds in to play, and both teams generated goals in the opening half. At the break, the match was tied 2-2.

Once again, Sporting Montréal came out firing, as they scored just 30 seconds into play to take a 3-2 lead. Toronto Idolo pushed the match to 3-3 with an equalizer in the 32nd minute.

It was a short-lived comeback, as Sporting Montréal would regain the lead just 29 seconds later, with Kardoussi Anis scoring his second of the match. This time, Sporting Montréal would not relinquish the lead, adding two more goals, for a final score of 6-3.

Sporting Montréal last won the Futsal Canadian Championships in 2017.
