Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce the rosters for the 2022 Ontario Provincial Xcel Teams.

Provincial Xcel team selections take place over the course of a calendar year, where players are identified through the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL), or through Talent on Location Days for players who are not enrolled in the talented pathway.

“We’re thrilled to see this level of talent coming through Ontario as we continue to develop promising players for higher levels of the game,” said Johnny Misley, Chief Executive Officer. “With the Men’s National Team recently qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and 20 of those 25 players on that roster coming from Ontario, there has never been a better time to be part of the Ontario talented pathway.”

The selected players for the Boys and Girls U-15, U-16 and U-18 teams will now participate in a showcase series against the Quebec Provincial Teams at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ontario, from April 29 to May 1.

As a special edition this year, the Boys U-14 team will take on Toronto FC Academy in a two game series and the Girls U-14 team will play an all-star series with the best players in the province facing off.

“This series serves as another assessment opportunity, for the technical leadership from Canada Soccer and other professional environments, to track player development and further identify standout players,” said Bryan Rosenfeld, Interim Director of Soccer Development. “Congratulations to the players selected, as well as the Ontario Soccer member Clubs who helped develop these athletes. Your commitment to the game is driving our development forward.”
