New National C Licence Courses Open for Registration

Coaches who obtain a “C” Licence Certification will be able to be a Head Coach in some Regional Leagues and an Assistant Coach in the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL).

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce two new National “C” Licence courses in different delivery formats; blended and intensive.

Overview:

The National “C” Licence is the entry-level course for the Licensing Stream pathway and prepares the coach to progress to the Advanced Coach Education Program whether in the Development Stream (Children or Youth) or Performance Stream (National B & A). The “C” Licence involves the facilitation of learning opportunities for the coach to develop an understanding of the coaching process.

What do you learn?

The “C” Licence content involves theoretical and practical components focusing on holistic, effective coaching. The workshop modules cover content including:

  • Vision, Mission, Values; 
  • Understanding the Person, the Practice & the Play; 
  • Safe Sport, Mental Health & Well-being in coaching; 
  • The Coaching Process; 
  • Designing and delivering a training session; 
  • Introduction to the Principles of Play; 
  • Developing the Individual Player; 
  • Introduction to the use of Technology in Coaching. 

Coaches who obtain a “C” Licence Certification will be able to be a Head Coach in some Regional Leagues and an Assistant Coach in the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL). Please refer to each league’s rules and regulations for up-to-date information on Coach Licensing Requirements.

What are the course pre-requisites?

Prior to registering for the C Licence course, coaches must complete the following:

Structure of the C Licence Course

Blended Delivery: the course will consist of eight (8) online Zoom sessions and one (1) on-field practical session.

Intensive Delivery: the course will consist of four (4) in-person days which include classroom & on-field components.

Dates & Location – Course #1 – Intensive Delivery

Entirely In-Person with a mix of Classroom and On-Field Components on each day:

  • Saturday, May 15, 2022 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 16, 2022 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 28, 2022 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 29, 2022 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The entirety of the course shall be held at the BMO Centre (295 Rectory St - London, Ontario)

Dates & Location – Course #2 – Blended Delivery
Theory Component - Evening Online sessions via Zoom:

  • Tuesday, April 26, 2022 – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 3, 2022 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 10, 2022 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 17, 2022 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 24, 2022 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 31, 2022 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 7, 2022 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 14, 2022 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On-field Practical at the Whitby Dome (695 Rossland Rd W - Whitby, Ontario)

  • Scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please note: 100% attendance and engagement is required for the duration of the course. Coaches must be in a workspace that allows them to actively participate in the course online with their cameras on.

$850

Application and Registration

Coaches are required to apply for the course via Coach Centre, providing proof of their completion of the pre-requisites. Upon being approved, coaches are then able to register for the course they are interested in.
