Ontario Soccer continues to work in consultation with the Government of Ontario, through the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries as we communicate important government directives and updates related to the current global pandemic.

The Government of Ontario announced on Jan. 20, 2022 that it is relaxing public health measures, in response to the recent status of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of those changes, effective Jan. 31, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. the Government of Ontario will allow the resumption of indoor sport activities and reintroduce a 50 per cent capacity (or 500 people, whichever is less) limit for indoor sports and recreational fitness venues.

Ontario Soccer has reviewed the changes with the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries to confirm the interpretation for sport and in preparation for the resumption of indoor soccer activities on Jan. 31, 2022.

New items that are included in the amendments are the following:

  • Contact tracing is no longer required by Sport and Recreation facilities. Active screening and proof of vaccination requirements remain in place
  • Food and drink can be sold but spectators must remain seated while consuming food or drink.

The Return to Play Guide will be updated soon.

Organizations are reminded to contact their local Public Health Unit, as applications of these changes may vary by region.
