Ontario Soccer continues to work in consultation with the Government of Ontario, through the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries as we communicate important government directives and updates related to the current global pandemic.

The Government of Ontario announced on Jan. 20, 2022 that it is relaxing public health measures, in response to the recent status of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of those changes, effective Jan. 31, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. the Government of Ontario will reintroduce a 50 per cent capacity (or 500 people, whichever is less) limit for indoor sports and recreational fitness venues.

Two metre distancing requirements remain in place for non-competition areas such as change rooms or other gathering spaces.

As the Government of Ontario’s regulations have not been published, pertaining to today’s announcement, we will clarify the specifics surrounding capacity limits affecting participants i.e., players, match officials and team officials.  Further updates for membership will be available soon.

The Government of Ontario has also indicated that proof of vaccination for indoor sports and recreational fitness venues remains in place.

Organizations are reminded to contact their local Public Health Unit, as applications of these changes may vary by region.
