Play. Inspire. Unite.
Since Ontario Soccer’s last communication of March 5, 2021 on the IModel Pilot Project (Information Bulletin I2021-019), I am writing to update membership on the progress, which is scheduled to launch in 2022 in the Central Region of Ontario.
The objectives of the IModel are to provide the best playing experience for competitive youth ages at the District and Regional Levels and enable all teams to compete at an appropriate level, while introducing standards, integrating registered academies and replacing an outdated promotion and relegation development model.
Recently, Ontario Soccer has received correspondence from the Central Soccer League (CSL) confirming that they have withdrawn their participation as a league service provider for the “regional and championship” components of the IModel Pilot Project. The Board of Directors of Ontario Soccer have reviewed this decision of the CSL and the recommendation from the DP/ORA Working Group and have approved the following for the 2022 Outdoor season;
Ontario Soccer and the Working Group are excited to have developed for testing, a new and innovative approach within the LTPD “Soccer4Life” pathway and welcome the participation of the Central Region District Association Clubs and Academies.
The IModel underpins very important principles of fairness, inclusiveness, and competitiveness, and will enhance player development at both the Regional and District levels for youth competitive soccer.
