Goalkeeper Coach Diploma Course Announced

This course is a pre-requisite for Canada Soccer’s new Youth Goalkeeper Licence.

Ontario Soccer is excited to announce registration is now open for a new Goalkeeper Coach Diploma course, which begins November 18, 2021 in a blended-learning format.

The course will offer a theory component, which will be delivered online and an in-person practical component, will take place at the Ontario Soccer Centre under the Ontario Soccer Return to Play Guidelines and Public Health directives.

An Overview:

The Goalkeeper Coach Diploma course is produced by Ontario Soccer and it combines theoretical and practical components of how to effectively coach goalkeepers. Furthermore, this course is a pre-requisite for Canada Soccer’s new Youth Goalkeeper Licence.

What do you learn?

The workshop’s modules target the following learning outcomes:

  • Role of the Goalkeeper and the Goalkeeper coach
  • Methodology of Coaching a Goalkeeper
  • Planning a Session for a Goalkeeper
  • Shot Stopping: Where they come from?
  • Goalkeeper specific fitness, agility and nutrition

What are the course pre-requisites?

Prior to registering for the Goalkeeper Coach Diploma course, coaches must have completed the following:

The On-field Practical will be at the Ontario Soccer Centre (7601 Martin Grove Road - Vaughan, Ontario).

PLEASE NOTE: 100% attendance and engagement is required for the duration of the course.

What is the cost?

$450

Application and Registration

Coaches are required to apply for the course via Coach Centre, providing proof of their completion of the pre-requisites. Upon being approved, coaches are then able to register for the course they are interested in.
