Ontario Soccer continues to work in consultation with Canada Soccer and the Government of Ontario, as we prepare for Return to Play 2021. Ontario Soccer will keep the membership updated with the most recent developments surrounding the public health crisis as it relates to our sport.

The Government of Ontario announced on October 8, 2021 that they are cautiously lifting capacity limits in select settings. Ontario Soccer communicated this announcement in bulletin I2021-082.

Ontario Soccer has updated the Return to Play Guide after receiving further information from the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries. Those changes are reflected on pages 7 and 9.

As it relates to organized team sports and indoor facilities, the following has been clarified:

  • When in an indoor area of the facility, individuals must maintain a physical distance of at least two metres from every other person in the facility, other than from their caregiver or from members of the person’s household, except when, engaging in sports or games at the facility
  • Capacity restrictions while using changerooms, publicly accessible spaces and distancing requirements while occupying these spaces remains in effect.

Organizations are encouraged to review the updated Return to Play Guide and updated their own Return to Play plans as appropriate.

All other previous Return to Play guidelines remain in place.

Organizations are reminded to consult with their local Public Health Units and /or municipalities to determine the specific application of guidelines in your region that may supersede the Province of Ontario Regulations.
