On April 26, 2021, Ontario Soccer announced a COVID-19 Specific Coaching Certification Requirement Adjustment (Bulletin I2021-041).
As per that Bulletin, Ontario Soccer delayed the requirement to complete the practical component of the required course in order to coach in 2021.
Coaches who have completed the theory portion of the course, either through a Google Classroom or through the new Canada Soccer Online Grassroots Coach Education Program, will be approved to actively coach in 2021 and classified as “Theory-Trained” until a practical component can be safely provided.
Two lists of “Theory-Trained” coaches will be available to District Administrators on the Ontario Soccer website.
Please note that District Administrators must be logged in to their SportsEngine account in order to access the webpage linked above, as it is protected. If you are encountering difficulties accessing the webpage, please contact Alex Di Noia.
Member Clubs and Academies can contact their District to verify coaches’ Theory-Trained status.
Additionally, Ontario Soccer will be working diligently in the coming weeks to schedule practical sessions for 2020 and 2021 coaches who have completed the theory component through the Google Classroom.
At this time, Ontario Soccer is completing the Learning Facilitator training for the new Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education program.
An update on this process will be provided on Monday, July 19, 2021.
