On April 26, 2021, Ontario Soccer announced a COVID-19 Specific Coaching Certification Requirement Adjustment (Bulletin I2021-041).

As per that Bulletin, Ontario Soccer delayed the requirement to complete the practical component of the required course in order to coach in 2021.

Coaches who have completed the theory portion of the course, either through a Google Classroom or through the new Canada Soccer Online Grassroots Coach Education Program, will be approved to actively coach in 2021 and classified as “Theory-Trained” until a practical component can be safely provided.

Two lists of “Theory-Trained” coaches will be available to District Administrators on the Ontario Soccer website.

• List 1 will contain: all the coaches who are Theory-Trained through the new Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education Program. This list will be updated every Friday, as provided to Ontario Soccer by Canada Soccer.
• List 2 will contain: all coaches who are Theory-Trained through a Google Classroom in 2020 or early 2021. This list will be uploaded on Friday, July 2, 2021.

Member Clubs and Academies can contact their District to verify coaches’ Theory-Trained status.

Additionally, Ontario Soccer will be working diligently in the coming weeks to schedule practical sessions for 2020 and 2021 coaches who have completed the theory component through the Google Classroom.

At this time, Ontario Soccer is completing the Learning Facilitator training for the new Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education program.
