Play. Inspire. Unite.

Ontario Soccer is delighted to confirm that driven by rave reviews and continuously growing engagement from the soccer community over the course of the last two months, we are extending the original Play ON! eLearning Series presented by Respect in Sport. A number of bonus sessions will be offered throughout May 2021 to continue to bring together soccer leaders from across the province and beyond and equip all our key stakeholders (Clubs, Academies, Districts, Leagues, administrators, coaches, managers, volunteers, parents, players, officials, etc.) with succinct and relevant insights and practical take-aways for a successful Return to Play.

In recognition of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Mental Health Week (May 3rd to 9th), the first sequel session to the original Play ON! eLearning Series presented by Respect in Sport on Thursday, May 6th will bring back two powerhouse presenters, who delivered a highly impactful webinar on April 1st. Mental health expert and soccer aficionada Dr. Tracy Vaillancourt, Professor in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa, will once again join forces with host Chelsea Spencer, Director on the League1 Ontario Board of Directors, to continue their crucial conversation about  “Resiliency and Mental Health in Young Athletes.”

Previously, Dr. Vaillancourt explored and discussed three key aspects that all soccer leaders must know about and take responsibility for:

  1. Vital background information on mental health and resiliency in young athletes;
  2. The important role of physical activity in health and wellness;
  3.  Practical advice to show coaches and activity leaders what they can do to help their players cope with the unprecedented stress of the pandemic.

All stakeholders are invited to revisit the profound insights shared in the below session recording.

April 1st edition of our Play ON! eLearning Series presented by Respect in Sport on “Resiliency and Mental Health in Young Athletes”:

In light of great audience engagement during this April 1st session and with more worthwhile questions having been asked by the audience than Tracy and Chelsea were able to cover in the limited time available, this follow-up session marks the ideal opportunity for participants to pose their questions to our presenters.

At the below link, participants can both register for this exciting session AND submit any questions they may have for Tracy or Chelsea in advance.

Ontario Soccer is looking forward to nurturing continued dialogue and collaboration with soccer leaders from every corner of Ontario and all across Canada, as we virtually work hand-in-hand to help soccer back on its feet this summer. So join us for more meaningful learning opportunities and do your part, as we tackle the COVID-19 Pandemic challenge together. This is your chance to Pitch In. Play ON!
