On Saturday, September 12, Ontario Soccer concluded its Annual Meeting of the Members (AMM) with the second installment of the event for 2020.

The AMM, which had been divided into two parts as a result of the ongoing public health crisis, was conducted as a hybrid meeting today, which saw some delegates appear in person, while properly socially distancing and wearing personal protection equipment and a majority of delegates participating online.

The following are highlights from the September installment of the AMM, which concluded today:

1. Approved By-law Amendments

Eight By-Law Amendments were passed, including:

  • Fiscal Year End Change
  • Definition of Membership Registration Fees
  • Removal of Transitional Governance By-Laws
  • Removal of Transitional Governance By-Laws #2
  • Term of Reference Change for Academies
  • Duties of Executive Officers
  • Future By-Law Amendments
  • Terms of Who Can Submit By-Law Amendments

These changes are now reflected in Ontario Soccer’s By-Laws and can be found on OntarioSoccer.net.

2. New Annual One Fee Proposal

A proposal to move Ontario Soccer’s membership registration fees to an Annual One Fee model and fee structure was not passed by the Voting Members, consisting of 21 District Associations. Presently registered members can pay fees multiple times per year as they register for indoor, outdoor and futsal.

The Annual One Fee model, which will remove the need for registered members to pay multiple Ontario Soccer registrations fees throughout a calendar year, will now be reviewed further by a Working Group.

While there was support for the concept of a One Fee Model, the proposed new fee structure will be discussed further with a Working Group and brought back to the Board and Voting Members at a later time.

Ontario Soccer will provide more information over the coming months.

3. 2020 Centre Circle Awards

The 2020 Centre Circle Awards, presented by Nothers – The Awards Store, is moving to an online awards night later this year and will honour and recognize Ontario Soccer’s deserving soccer leaders. The Centre Circle Awards at Home program will take place virtually online the evening of November 8. More details to come.

The first installment of the AMM took place on June 13 and was conducted only by online video. At this meeting the Ontario Soccer Voting Members elected two new Board of Directors and re-elected two Directors.
