Ontario Soccer has made the difficult decision to postpone the Ontario Soccer Summit, which was to be held in Ottawa in early 2021, to 2022.

Play. Inspire. Unite.

Supporters of Ontario Soccer’s premier development event will have to wait a little longer for a return to the Summit on their development journey.

The Ontario Soccer Summit, which annually attracts Coaches, Match Officials, Administrators and Soccer Leaders from across the province and Canada, will be postponed in 2021 and return in early 2022.

The Ontario Soccer Summit attracts speakers from all over the world and recent attendees have included illustrious names such as Victor Montagliani, Vice-President of FIFA and President of Concacaf, Kris Van Der Haegen, Director of Coach Education at the Royal Belgian Football Association, Bibiana Steinhaus, FIFA Match Official and many more.

“As a result of the ongoing public health crisis, Ontario Soccer has made the difficult decision to postpone the Ontario Soccer Summit, which was to be held in Ottawa in early 2021, to 2022,” said Johnny Misley, Ontario Soccer’s Chief Executive Officer. “When the Ontario Soccer Summit returns in 2022, it will be of the calibre that our members have come to expect from Ontario Soccer.”

Since the suspension of sanctioned activities in March due to COVID-19, Ontario Soccer, has undergone tremendous efforts to ensure participants can Return to Play safely in 2020.

While soccer in Ontario has made significant progress towards a safe Return to Play, including the recent announcement of “Phase 2 – Enhanced Format for Modified Games”, the current circumstances and restrictions surrounding the global pandemic continue to pose challenges to operations and planning for events.

“Ontario Soccer will continue to work with their District partner, the Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association, to plan for and put on the premier soccer development event in Ontario, which provides personal and professional development for all levels in the sport,” said Bjorn Osieck, Ontario Soccer Director of Business Operations.

Further details on Ontario Soccer Summit 2022 will be announced in the coming months.
