New Online National C Licence Course Announced

Coaches who obtain a C Licence Certification will be able to be a Head Coach in some Regional Leagues, the OASL, and an Assistant Coach in the OPDL.

Ontario Soccer, in consultation with Canada Soccer and the Government of Ontario, continues to monitor the most recent developments surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the resulting public health crisis and Ontario Soccer’s Return to Play Plan.

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce a new National C Licence course, to be delivered online, with an in-person date taking place at the Ontario Soccer Centre, once “Return to Play” is confirmed.

The National C Licence is the entry-level course for the Licensing Stream pathway and prepares the coach to progress to the Development Stream (Children), Development Stream (Youth) or Performance Stream (Senior). The C Licence involves the facilitation of learning opportunities for the coach to develop an understanding of the coaching process.

The C Licence content involves theoretical and practical components focusing on holistic, effective coaching. The workshop modules covers content including:

  • Vision, Mission, Values;
  • Understanding the Person, the Practice & the Play;
  • Mental Health and wellbeing in coaching;
  • Safe Sport;
  • The Coaching Process;
  • Designing and delivering a training session;
  • Introduction to the Principles of Play;
  • Developing the individual player;
  • Introduction to presentation skills;
  • Introduction to the use of technology in coaching.

What are the pre-requisites?

Prior to registering for the C Licence course, coaches must complete the following:

Structure of the C Licence Course

The course will be held online, and details of all the dates can be found by clicking from the C License webpage.

Dates:

  • Evening Online Classes – Starting Monday, August 10, 2020 at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (32 spots)


NOTE: 100% attendance and engagement is required for the duration of the course.

Location

  • While the course will be held online, coaches must be available to attend the in-person date of the course at the Ontario Soccer Centre, on Friday November 6, 2020, to complete their C License Training. (7601 Martin Grove Road - Vaughan, Ontario)

What is the cost?

 $820

Application and Registration

Coaches are required to apply for the course via Coach Centre, providing proof of their completion of the pre-requisites. Upon being approved, coaches are then able to register for the course they are interested in.
