Play. Inspire. Unite.

Ontario Soccer, in consultation with Canada Soccer and governmental sport and public health advisors, continues to monitor the most recent developments surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Ontario Soccer understands that organizations may be faced with a shortage of Match Officials as Return to Play phases are introduced.  To assist with this, Ontario Soccer will be opening additional online Match Official Accreditation clinics to assist in reducing the shortage for Clubs and Districts.

Please note that there is a minimum participant thresholds to run these clinics.

The Clinics will launch shortly after the threshold numbers have been confirmed. If these thresholds are not met, the individuals will be carried over to the 2021 clinic season (Jan to April 2021).

If your organization is aware of any of your members that previously wanted to take a clinic but were not able, now is the time to reach out to them.

  • Individuals that wish to become Match Officials must reserve a clinic spot by registering at www.refcentre.com/ontario and selecting ‘Ontario Soccer’ under the Club section.
  • This reservation registration will be accessible from June 17, 2020 until July 3, 2020 only
  • Further details will be forwarded to participants directly upon approval of Round 2.
  • Round 2 of Clinics will be completed by mid-August.

As a Club, Academy or District you will not be required to apply to host, pay fees or administer these clinics.

The individual will register directly through the Ontario Soccer online platform and Ontario Soccer staff will manage organizing the clinics, exams and all student communication.

This will aid in reducing the amount of administrative work placed on your Club, Academy or District during Ontario Soccer Return to Play.

Each Club, Academy or District represented by a student for this round of clinics will receive a $10.00 per student Club Development fee.

This will be processed at the conclusion of the Clinics.

Students will be required to select their home Club, Academy or District from a drop down menu.  Please ensure you advise your students of the correct choice – Club, Academy or District.

At the conclusion of the accreditation process the student will be assigned to their home Club/District by Ontario Soccer staff and will be visible on your Match Officials list on Refcentre.

If you have any further questions, please contact Nicky Pearson, Senior Manager, Match Official Development.
