Volunteers are essential to realizing the benefits of sport and a new initiative between Ontario Soccer and Nothers – The Awards Store will debut at the Ontario Soccer Summit 2020.

Ontario Soccer and Nothers debuted the Ontario Soccer Volunteer Recognition Program to acknowledge the valued contributions of volunteers across the province.

The Ontario Soccer Volunteer Recognition Program presented by Nothers aims to commemorate the work of volunteers across Ontario by providing a limited number of $500 grants.

These grants will be available to eligible Ontario Soccer member organisations to redeem with Nothers to honour the work of standout individuals that have made an indelible impact with their service to their organisation and community.

These grants will assist member organisations with financing the creation of an awards program that will recognize deserving recipients. As well, the program aims to achieve the following goals:

  • Identify best practices implemented by member organisations within Ontario Soccer for volunteer rewards;
  • Build awareness of, celebrate, publish and promote volunteer reward programs and best practices among all Ontario Soccer member organisations; and,
  • Encourage volunteer retention and recognition program development throughout the Ontario Soccer community.

The Ontario Soccer Volunteer Recognition Program, presented by Nothers, officially launched at the Ontario Soccer Summit 2020, as part of a special Learning Lounge session on volunteer recognition. Officials from Nothers will address attendees on the importance of fostering volunteerism, cultivating excellence, retaining volunteers and recruiting new volunteers, while highlighting best practices in volunteer recognition.  Attendees will be able to reserve their seat for the session at the Nothers booth at the Ontario Soccer Summit 2020.

Following the session, attendees that have completed a ballot will have a chance to win two of 10 grants.

The remaining eight grants will be awarded after Ontario Soccer Summit 2020 following a review of completed applications. Applications are available at www.Nothers.com and must be submitted no later than March 15, 2020. Nothers will review the eligibility and quality of submissions, and notify successful recipients by April 15, 2020.  All Ontario Soccer member organisations in good standing, regardless of size, are eligible for the award.

As a condition of award acceptance, award recipients will be required to share with Nothers and Ontario Soccer their reward and recognition strategies.  As well, recipients must agree to the publishing and sharing of their best practices through Ontario Soccer communication channels.
