Play. Inspire. Unite.

The U-16 Girls Ontario Indoor Cup featured Glen Shields taking on Ajax SC in the final.

Glen Shields were undefeated during the group stage play of the final round, including defeating Ajax 2-1 in their opening match.

They then defeated the Berlin Academy ID – Kitchener 2-1 in the semi-finals to book their spot in the final.

Ajax, after suffering the opening match loss, drew and then won big to advance to the semi-finals where they edged Soo City United 1-0.

Ajax would draw first blood when a well worked free kick on the edge of the box came to Emilie Urrasio and her shot fooled the Glen Shields keeper, making it 1-0 in the 6th minute.

Both sides would trade chances for the remainder of the first half but neither could find another way through.

The second half would continue the trend of both sides getting close but not able to find the final touch as Ajax held on to their narrow lead. Victoria Broomer would stand tall for Ajax time and again as Glen Shields had multiple opportunities to tie the game.

With under three minutes remaining in the game, Glen Shields finally found a way through. Jaspreet Dev made a tremendous solo run and her shot found the back of the net to draw her side level at 1-1.

Less than a minute later, Glen Shields grabbed the lead when Sofia Zebic got a clever back heel on net, beating the keeper to give them a 2-1 lead.

From there they would hold on and complete the come from behind victory, capturing the U-16 Girls Ontario Indoor Cup title.
