“We all have a role to play in Ontario in the lead-up to 2026 and this expert panel will be great for generating discussion on what kind of lasting legacy we can contribute to,” said Johnny Misley, Ontario Soccer’s Chief Executive Officer. “We have a six-year runway in front of us. Our province will play a big role in contributing to the success of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Jason de Vos, Director of Development of Canada Soccer, will moderate another panel dealing with the crucial topic of Safe Sport. The Safe Sport panelists, which are experts in athlete safety, will be announced soon.

In addition to the two panels, Ontario Soccer are pleased to announce additional technical and administrative speakers for the event hosted in partnership with the Hamilton and District Soccer Association.

Four others from Canada Soccer will be joining de Vos, who will also lead an in-class session. Stuart Neely (Manager of Coach Education, Canada Soccer), Dave Nutt (Manager of Development, Canada Soccer) and Dr. Kevin Gordon (Child Neurologist and Member of Sport Medicine Committee, Canada Soccer) will all bring their expertise to Hamilton.

Rounding out this group of announcements will be Dr. Nick Bontis (Professor at DeGroote School of Business, Vice-President of Canada Soccer), Bobby Lennox (Technical Project Manager, Richmond Hill SC) and Dr. Susan Lambert (Boomerang Health).

“The Ontario Soccer Summit is not only an opportunity for our technical leaders in Ontario to learn from some of the best in the industry, it’s a chance for them to network and connect with experts in their field,” said Gary Miller, Ontario Soccer Director of Soccer of Operations. “Relationships on and off the field are important for everyone in our game.”

Two keynote speakers were previously announced to headline the Ontario Soccer Summit 2020. The first is Victor Montagliani, the President of Concacaf and Vice-President of FIFA and he will be joined by Karen O’Neill, the CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Committee.

As well, technical and match official speakers like Kris Van Der Haegen (Director of Coach Education at the Royal Belgian Football Association, the number one Men’s team in the World FIFA rankings), Oliver Gage (CPL Head of Recruitment and Analytics), Marius Røevde (CPL’s Pacific FC Goalkeeping Coach) and Howard Webb (General Manager of the Professional Referee Organization as well as a former internationally recognized match official) have already been announced.
