Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce the date and location of the upcoming Technical Director Diploma Course. Please see below for course details and registration information.

The course focuses on defining the Technical Director’s role and providing them with the necessary tools required to meet the demands of the position. The course addresses topics such as Match Officials Development, Program Development, Player Development through the Talented Pathway, Management and Leadership styles, Business Skills, Strategic Planning, Mentorship, and more.

What are the pre-requisites?

Prior to registering for the Technical Director Diploma course, you must complete the following:

  • One of the following: Canada Soccer B License Part 1 “Certified” (or higher/equivalent), OR Canada Soccer Children’s License, OR Canada Soccer Children’s License
  • Making Ethical Decisions Course
  • Respect in Sport Online Module
  • Making Headway in Sport
  • Keeping Girls in Sport Online Module

Structure of the Technical Director Diploma Course

In Person Days

  • November 21 & 22 – The Changing Role of the TD
  • December 4 – NCCP Mentorship Training
  • December 16 – Communication & Presentation Skills, Canada Soccer
  • January 24, 2020 – Talented Player Pathway, OPDL, Holistic Youth Development
  • February 12, 2020 – NCCP Learning Facilitator Training
  • February 26, 2020 – NCCP Coach Evaluator Training
  • April 2020 – TFC Academy Visit (TBC)
  • May 15, 2020 – NCCP Master Learning Facilitator Training
  • June 5, 2020 – Presentation Day


(all above to take place at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan, unless otherwise indicated)

Online Classroom Sessions

  • November 28, 2019 – Profiling Yourself (2 hours)
  • March 13, 2020 – Developing Coaches in Ontario (2 hours)
  • March 27, 2020 – Developing the Grassroots Player and your Grassroot Soccer Program (2 hours)
  • April 22, 2020 – Developing Match Officials in Ontario (2 hours)

An attendance of 100% and engagement is required for all modules. Candidates will be required to complete pre-course tasks and post-course assignments to receive their diploma.

What is the cost?

 $795

Application and Registration

Coaches are required to apply for the course via Coach Centre, providing proof of their completion of the pre-requisites. Upon being approved, coaches are then able to register for the course they are interested in.
