The 2019 Ontario Academy Soccer League (OASL) season is ready to kickoff May 4-5 for its first weekend of play.

The third year of the OASL Pilot-Project operated by Ontario Soccer, in partnership with DG Sports, will feature 47 private Academies and approximately 300 teams from across the province.

Twenty-eight Academies will play in OASL Tier 1 and 19 Academies will play in Tier 2.

“Ontario Soccer continues to work with Private Academies to ensure that we bring all athletes in Ontario into same developmental stream and make sure everyone has the opportunity to progress along the Talented Pathway,” said Johnny Misley, Ontario Soccer Chief Executive Officer. “We will continue to review the successes of this program and strengthen our alignment as we move forward with Private Academies in Ontario.”

The 2019 OASL is also pleased to announce the inaugural Academy League Cup. The Academy League Cup competition will operate U14-U17 and will be available to both Tier 1 and Tier 2 Academies.

The Academy League Cup will operate in a single-game knockout format, with the cup finals scheduled for the weekend of October 4-6.

The OASL is a strategic, Ontario Soccer Board of Directors approved initiative designed to implement an Academy soccer stream, made up of private academies, aligning Ontario Soccer’s player development pathway.

The OASL is available to Ontario Registered Academies (ORA), a standards-based program for private Academies within Ontario.
