Special Call for Nominations for Ontario Soccer Board of Directors

Nominations open today Wednesday, May 1, 2019 and will close at the end of day Wednesday, May 22, 2019

The Nominations Committee has received no nominations from District Members for the Regional East Director for the new Ontario Soccer Board of Directors. 

The term(s) of the Regional East Director is for 3 years. 

As such, under Ontario Soccer By-Law # 2 Section 5 (g) the Nominations Committee is initiating a “Special Call for Nominations” for this Region only. 

Nominations open today Wednesday, May 1, 2019 and will close at the end of day Wednesday, May 22, 2019. 

A complete nomination package consists of both the candidate and Voting Member (District) in the Region making submissions by Wednesday, May 22, 2019 as follows:

Candidates must submit:

  1. Brief resume of your soccer / sporting, business and professional background
  2. Completed Vulnerable Sector check (if currently available)
  3. References or endorsements from at least two persons who are not related to you that you have known for at least five years
  4. Appendix “C” Completed Skills and Competency Form

Voting Member in the Region must submit:

  1. Form D – Nomination Form (available on the Ontario Soccer website)

As a reminder, The Nominations Committee is seeking qualified candidates who are able to contribute to an Ontario Soccer that reflects the values of inclusiveness, respect, integrity, high ethical standards, community building and is player-centred.

To be a Regional Director, an individual must: 

  • maintain a primary residence within the region, or be, or have been, involved as a player, coach, match official, or administrator in the region, for which they are elected or appointed;
  • be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
  • not have been found incapable of managing property under the Substitute Decisions Act, 1992 or under the Mental Health Act;
  • have the power under law to contract;
  • not have been declared incapable by a court in Canada or in another country

not have the status of bankrupt;

  • complete and pass a vulnerable sector check if required;
  • complete and pass a criminal record check;
  • not be a paid employee of Ontario Soccer, any of its Members, any affiliated league, club or Ontario Recognized Academy, or Canada Soccer;
  • not be a consultant or contractor or match official for Ontario Soccer, or any of its Members, any affiliated league, club or Ontario Recognized Academy, or Canada Soccer;
  • not be a member of a Judicial Body of Ontario Soccer,  any of its Members, any affiliated league, club or Ontario Recognized Academy, or Canada Soccer;
  • not hold a position as a Director or Officer of a Member, any affiliated league, club or Ontario Recognized Academy, or Canada Soccer.

Complete nominations must be submitted electronically by end of day, Wednesday, May 22, 2019, to Eva Havaris.

A confirmation email will be sent in response to confirm that a candidate’s package has been received and is complete.
