The importance of ongoing education for match officials

There are lots of opportunities for match officials to get education, these are just a few

Ontario Soccer recognizes the importance of educating all participants of the game.

As Ontario Soccer continue to support the progress of Match Officials, Coaches, and players alike, there is also a need to educate parents / spectators, instructors and assessors.

Here are a few that can help everyone along their sport journey.

Ref Centre Clinics

For hosts

Any clubs, districts, or schools looking to host Match Official courses must do so through Refcentre.com, and Eventbrite.com. Eventbrite is the pre-registration portion of the application, while the Refcentre portion is for course details, and student registration.

For students

Students may choose from a number of courses available to them. These courses include:

  • Entry Level (9v9, 11v11) must be age 14+
  • Small-Sided Game (7v7) must be age 12+
  • Futsal
  • Small-sided AR must be 13+, must have completed Small Sided Game course

Respect in Sport

Ontario Soccer and Respect Group partnered to deliver an online learning module to provide all participants of the game a safe, healthy and respectful environment. This course is 2.5 hours long and is completed at the users pace.
