FUNdamentals (U6-U8 Female/U6-U9 Male)

Overview

FUNdamentals is a NCCP Community Coaching Workshops.  The Canadian Soccer Association's LTPD workshops will give you the confidence to succeed as you enter the ranks of certified coaches in Ontario.Each level features education on age-appropriate coaching for each level of play.

IMPORTANT NOTICE DURING COVID 19 PANDEMIC

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce that the Community Coaching Workshops are now available online.

To ensure that the Community Coaching Workshops are more accessible and to allow greater flexibility on when these courses can be delivered, the coaches will be able to work at their own pace to complete the course material.

In addition to the online portion of the course, there will also be one day of in person and on field requirement in the Fall, to conclude the workshop, which each Club or Academy will host.

Coaches will continue to register for their course through Coach Centre.  

Registered coaches will then create a Gmail email address, if they don’t have one already, so they can access Google Classroom to complete the course material. 

The Club or Academy Course Coordinator will send each coach a Google Classroom link with a Class Code which will then give them access to the course material that they can work on at their own pace.

  • How to develop the ABCs of movement: Agility, Balance, Coordination and speed.
  • How to run a practice session that is fun, safe and keeps children actively engaged.
  • How to explain the FUNdamentals of a game in a way that children can understand.
  • How to communicate to this specific age group.
  • You will be provided with effective practice plans that will make preparing for the season easier and will help you make a difference with your team.

FUNdamentals Course is designed for individuals who will be coaching U6-U8 Females and U6-U9 Males.

Description of the course.

  • An interactive workshop led by an expert facilitator with years of experience coaching soccer. You'll spend time in the classroom and on the field practicing drills.
  • There are vibrant deliberations regarding parent management and guidance on all safety requirements.

Ontario Soccer has created a series of brochures in the form of mini-pamphlets that walk coaches through four of the key physical literacy stages of Long-Term Player Development (LTPD). Each of these resources provide very basic but helpful information through Active Starts, FUNdamentals, Learn to Train and Soccer for Life for volunteer coaches.
