CLUB RECOGNITION AWARD

Erin Mills Soccer Club

Erin Mills Soccer Club Over the past year has taken considerable strides to help grow not only the game but to elevate females in sport, as well as inclusivity and breaking barriers.

  • All Abilities Soccer Program provides children and youth with intellectual and/or physical disabilities an opportunity to learn and play soccer.
  • The female mentorship program is called ‘She’s an Eagle’ and has been designed to increase the number of female coaches in the community.
  • The supplemental soccer program, Girl Power, is for future leaders in the sport. It is aimed towards U6-U8 to help build confidence and skills before entering development soccer.
  • Working closely with local elementary schools, offering services for free and removing barriers
  • ‘Mini Eagles’ Program for children between 18 months and three years old. Focuses on physical literacy and fundamental movement skills.

Marko Milanovic

North Toronto Soccer

  • Has been with North Toronto Soccer for over 14 years
  • Head Coach of League1 Men’s Premier, L2, and L1 U20 groups
  • UEFA A Coach License and Canada Soccer Youth License
  • Highly respected for his ability to inspire and push players to achieve their potential, fostering a supportive and united environment both on and off the pitch.
  • Instrumental in establishing the North Toronto OPDL and League1 Programs
  • Led the creation and implementation of the North Toronto Game Model.
  • Played a key role in the Nitros Academy Director program, contributing to the sustainability of the summer camp environment for over a decade.
  • Some of Marko’s Achievements Include:
    • U14 Boys OPDL Gary Miller Charity Shield Champion in 2017
    • U17 Girls OPDL Gary Miller Charity Shield Champions in 2018

Theo Margaritis

Cherry Beach Soccer Club

  • Has coached the same team at Cherry Beach Soccer Club for 11 years
  • C Level License Certified and is fully volunteer
  • Organized training sessions with renowned soccer players over the years for his Club
  • Coordinated a trip to Greece for competitive matches
  • Emphasizes the importance of education; all his players are set to attend post-secondary institutions in the fall of 2024.

Filip Dujic

Toronto Soccer Association

  • Match Official who has been on the National List of Match officials since 2019
  • He made his MLS debut in 2022 and has been a full time PRO Referee in the MLS since 2023. 
  • In 2024 he became a FIFA Match Official
  • In that time he has been a part of a number of notable matches and events including:
    • 2018 U20 Concacaf Championships
    • 2019 U17 Concacaf Championships
    • 2021 CPL Final - Reserve Official
    • 2022 CPL Final - Referee
    • 2023 Canadian Championship Final - Referee
    • 2023 MLS x Liga MX Leagues Cup

Match Officials Carol Anne Chénard Award

Richard Kuchta

Oakville Soccer Club

  • Grade 7 Match Official with over 15 years of officiating experience in Peel Halton
  • Extensive mentor work with youth officials in the grassroots development program
  • Officiates at both adult and youth levels
  • Certified as a Discipline Chair in 2019
  • Educates officials on processes and reporting and continues to strive towards upgrading his Officiating skills
  • Volunteers countless hours at the Club level

Michael Gagne

Valley United Soccer League

  • Grade 6 District Match Official and began officiating at the age of 14
  • Head Referee for:
    • Valley United Soccer League
    • Deep River & Area Minor Soccer Club
  • Acting Head Referee for:
    • Petawawa Minor Soccer Club
    • Opeongo Minor Soccer Club
  • Joined Canadian Armed Forces, posted to Manitoba and continued officiating in 2014
  • Recognized by Valley United Soccer League for educating players and match officials
  • Developed a mentorship plan for match officials in the Upper Ottawa Valley
  • Created new processes for scheduling, referee shortage, and continuing education
  • Instrumental in teaching RefCentre to match officials
  • Organized Assistant Referee course for young officials
  • Conducted mandatory refresher sessions for returning officials
  • Developing a Referee’s Manual with contact information, guides, and rules
  • Created a sustainable model for match official development

  • Joined Oshawa Soccer Club in 2005.
  • Coached various teams:
    • 1991 Girls (head coach since 2006)

  • Part of the Club Technical Staff with a focus on:
    • Growing the Grassroots program.
    • Mentoring new coaches.
  • Administrative and Managerial Roles:
    • Overseer of house league programs.
    • Assisted with administration tasks.
    • Current role: Manager of Special Projects and Initiatives.
  • Oshawa Kicks SC Newcomers Program: Implemented to support and integrate newcomers into the soccer community.
  • Engaged with local schools and community groups to promote soccer.
  • Walking Soccer Projects- Targeted members of the 55+ community to promote inclusivity and participation.
  • Actively working to grow the female side of the game within the Club and the District.
  • Recognized for being an integral part of Oshawa Kicks Soccer Club’s success and vision.

Chris Reilly

Whitby Football Club

  • Has been involved with Whitby Football Club since 2000
  • Became the Technical Director of the Club in 2022
  • Has been roles including coaching, referee, convenor, board member, tournament organizer, and technical staff.
  • Coaching and managing teams across all age groups from U4 upwards, covering house league, competitive, and high performance (OPDL and League 1 Ontario).
  • Some of Chris’ Achievements include
    • Coached players who progressed to the National Program, Youth World Cups, CPL, and MLS
    • Won an Ontario Cup.
    • Contributed to Club Game Model Development.
    • Created Whitby FC Mini Fest.
  • Chris has his;
    •  CSA National B Licence
    • Ontario Soccer Technical Director Diploma
    • And currently in the process of obtaining his CSA Children’s Licence

Judy Diamond

Darlington Soccer Club

  • Has been involved with Darlington Soccer Club for over 20 years.
  • She currently holds the title of President and accepted the nomination in 2014.
  • She has held several other positions on the Executive Board including Vice President of Administration, and Vice President.
  •  In addition she has been the Ladies League Recreational Coordinator.
  • In addition to her commitment to the Club Judy has also volunteered for at least 15 years at the District level and more recently at the Provincial level.
  • Judy is Discipline Certified and regularly sits on the discipline and appeal panels for both the DRSA and Ontario Soccer.
  • She is not only an integral part of Darlington Soccer Club but, of the DRSA and soccer in Ontario as well

Meritorious Award- East

Liana Ouellette

Kingston United

  • Liana has been the Women’s Soccer Head Coach at St. Lawrence College Surge since 2021
    • In that year her team was crowned East Division Champions and OCAA Silver Medalists
  • She Began coaching with one of Kingston United’s precursor clubs in 2003
  • Continued coaching with Kingston United after its formation in 2006 and has earned Canada Soccer C-Licence.
  • Coached multiple competitive teams during outdoor seasons.
    • Worked with players at recreational, OPDL, and regional/district competitive levels.
  • Liana helped create and launch the “Girls United” program, designed to encourage female participation in soccer and run by female coaches.
  • Since 2007, she has held various positions on the board, including Director responsible for Competitive Programs
    • She served as President for one year and Vice President for 6
  • Contributed to Kingston United receiving a National Youth Club Licence in 2019
  • Facilitated the establishment of Kingston United as the first OPDL club between the GTA and Ottawa, providing local youth with high-performance training opportunities.
  • Her contributions have helped modernize and elevate Kingston United Soccer Club, positively influencing the soccer community in southeastern Ontario.

Meritorious Award- North

Giuliano Celebre

Nipissing District Soccer Club

  • Instrumental in turning soccer into a thriving sport in North Bay.
  • Giuliano has 40+ Years of Involvement in multiple Roles including Player, Coach, Club Executive, and Mentor
  • He was a key contributor to the collaboration between the Amalgamation of three Soccer Clubs to form the Nipissing District Soccer Club in 2019
  • He was the VP of Competitive Programming from 2019-2021at Nipissing District Soccer Club:
    • Served on Club’s board for two years. And is;
    • Current Role currently a Consultant and Mentor for the Club and continues to coach
  • In 2023 he received the first Nipissing District Soccer Club Excellence Life Member Award for his outstanding contributions and commitment.
  • His efforts in amalgamating local soccer clubs, developing players, and mentoring others have had a lasting impact on the soccer community in the region.

Tony Crowle

Ontario Women's Soccer League

  • Tony was the President Ontario Women's Soccer League (OWSL) for 25 years
  • He is the Club president of the West Lincoln Youth Soccer Club and the Club President of the West Lincoln Ladies Soccer Club
  • Tony is a Board member of the Niagara Soccer League and coaches a youth boys and girls team
  • He has his C License and has been coaching since 1992 
  • Coaching - from 1992 - present
  • Niagara Regional Girls Soccer League/ NSL - Board member 1994 - 2018
  • Niagara Soccer Association - Board member/ President - 2010 - 2016
  • Board member - Niagara Soccer League (Scheduler) - 2023 - present
  • Was a Match Official from 1994 - 2000
  • Tony is a lifetime volunteer of the beautiful game-fully dedicated 24/7 to the OWSL, West Lincoln Soccer Club, Niagara District and his youth and senior

Meritorious Award- West

John Laverty

Elgin Middlesex Soccer Association

  • John is a Director at Large with the St. Thomas Soccer Club, he is a Director at Large with the Western Regional Soccer League and he is the West Regions Representative to the IModel Steering Committee.
  • John continues to be a match official and he manages the Complaints Department for the Elgin Middlesex Soccer Association.
  • In the past he has also performed a role with EMSA Discipline.
  • John has been involved with the St. Thomas Soccer Club for numerous years as a coach.
  •  He has also been a match official for multiple years and has been involved at the EMSA District since 2017 and served on the Board from 2017 until 2022

Some of John’s Achievements include -

1.         EMSA President- Elected in 2020

2.         WRSL Director - Elected in 2023

3.         Imodel Steering Committee- in 2024

  • John remains a valuable source of information and continues to use his vast experience in soccer to support all aspects of soccer in the EMSA District and West Region.
  • Congratulations to Giuliano on joining the Centre Circle.

MILKUP FUTURE LEADERS AWARDS

Aaron Coulas

Opeongo Minor Soccer Club

  • Player, referee, and has coached a youth team at Opeongo Minor Soccer Club
  • Has been captain for his Club for multiple years
  • Helps with the upkeep of the local pitch by painting line, assembling nets, and arranging goals posts
  • Assists with planning, setting up and running an annual ‘fun night’ the Club hosts for youth
  • Top Male Scholar Award in 2020
  • Renfrew County Scholar 2019-2023
  • Achieving an 85 or higher in all classes
  • Plays and helps with his school’s volleyball team
  • Has assisted with clinics helping youth develop their skills

Brianna West

Kingston United Soccer Club

  • Has played soccer at the same Club since she was 6 years old
  • She is a phenomenal coach and volunteer at the Club
  • Looking to undertake her coaching licenses
  • She has been accepted into the RMC College Program
  • Tremendous work ethic, always early to training, and programming and always keen on assisting with set up
  • She is loved by the kids at the Club and always has a smile on her face
  • Selfless, hardworking and driven

Molly Owen

Cambridge United

  • Has been playing with her Club since she was 6 years old
  • She holds a Grade 1 Match Official License
  • She has coached at her Club
  • She mentors young females athletes and volunteers at her Club’s summer camps
  • She has accepted an Offer at Carleton University and will be playing on their Varsity Women’s Soccer Team
  • Senior Female Athlete of the Year at her school 2022/2023
  • Achieved Waterloo Region All Star Player for her School’s Varsity Soccer Team 2022/2023
  • Most Valuable Player for her School’s Varsity Field Hockey Team 2022/2023
  • Maintains Honour Roll

Zachary Wilkinson

South Simcoe United Football Club

  • Player, referee and staff member at his Club
  • Works as a coach and field maintainer at his Club
  • Assisted with the restart of soccer during the Return to Play during the pandemic in 2020-2021
  • Most experienced and senior youth referee in his district and is a role model to the younger match officials
  • Volunteers at Junior Eagles, a hockey youth development program where he teaches kids to skate
  • Hs received and maintained honour roll every year of high school
  • Member of his school’s News Team, head of the AV Crew, part of Student Council, and Drama Club
  • Won an award for best technical prowess as a member of the Sound Technician Crew for the schools NTS Drama Fest
  • Attending University of Guelph to pursue a career in Computer Science

Felipe Cintra

North York Academy

  • Has played since he was 6 years old
  • Naturally talented and hardworking on and off the field
  • Named Team Captain for several years based on his leadership amongst his peers
  • Honour Roll Student with an 85% average
  • Wants to pursue a Bachelors of Science through the Kinesiology Program
  • Has been accepted and recruited at the University of North Florida and their Mens Soccer Team
